Jay County Civic Theatre

From 1977 to today

Jay County Civic Theatre launched in 1977 with its production of "Forty Carats."

In the years since, the organization has produced nearly 120 shows

including “George Washington Slept Here” in 1981, “Anything Goes” 1986,

“Once Upon a Mattress” in 1997, “The Sound of Music” in 2008, “Young Frankenstein” in 2015,

"Newsies," "Mamma Mia!" and "Frozen Jr." in 2019,

and, most recently, "Elf the Musical in 2021."

There are several, including “A Christmas Carol,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Fiddler on the Roof”

and “Grease” that have been performed more than once over the course of the 40-year run.

Nearly 50 directors have led Jay County Civic Theatre shows over the years,

some directing just once and others returning to the role over and over again.

The most frequent directors in civic history are Jason McGraw (15 shows),

Greg Ashley (12 shows), Steve Tatman (11) and Tom Casey (nine).

An award in Casey's name is presented each year to someone who has been

dedicated to Jay County Civic Theatre and its pursuits over a long period of time.
